Dismissal Information

Requesting a Dismissal:

You may request dismissal of your citation if you are charged with the following offense(s):

  • Expired driver's license - Renew your license within 21 business days of the date you were cited/ $20 Fee
  • Expired motor vehicle registration - Renew your registration within 21 business days of the date you were cited/ $20 Fee
  • Failure to change name or address on driver's license - Correct your license within 21 business days of the date you were cited/ $10 Fee
  • Failure to display driver's license - Provide Proof of Valid Driver's License on date cited/$10 Fee
  • Operate Motor Vehicle without Licenses Plates or with one plate - Correct your license plate within 21 business days of the date you were cited/ $10 Fee
  • Obscured License Plate - Correct your license plate within 21 business days of the date you were cited/ $10 Fee
  • Defective Equipment - Correct defective equipment within 21 business days of the date you were cited/ $10 Fee
  • Failure to maintain insurance - See failure to maintain insurance

Requesting a Dismissal 

Insurance (Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility) 

To request a dismissal, you must submit the following proof of insurance within 21 business days of the date you were cited. 

  • A valid policy of vehicle liability insurance before the date of the offense
  • A valid driver's license
  • Information provided on the insurance policy identification card must contain:
  • Name, address, and telephone number of the insured
  • Name, address, and telephone number of the insurance company (insurer)
  • Policy Number
  • Effective and expiration dates of the policy

If these conditions are met then the offense can be dismissed at no charge.
