Ranch House Road update

Ranch House Road
Ranch House Road

The reconstruction of the north Ranch House Road corridor is nearly complete, with the contractor finishing up the last few bits and pieces of the job before the city accepts the finished work.

The project, approved by voters in a 2016 bond election, is currently in what’s known as the “punch list” phase, where the contractor will check off a series of minor jobs as the last section of the project. Punch list items could potentially include tasks such as repairing minor faults in the concrete or cleaning leftover debris.

The project adheres to North Central Texas Council of Government standards, which cover matters such as road base and rebar. The standards, which are used in communities throughout the north Texas region, help set a standard to make sure projects are engineered correctly and result in similar quality in varying municipalities in north central Texas. City engineer Derek Turner has been on site throughout the process to inspecting the work as it has been completed, to ensure compliance with these standards.

Once the “punch list” is complete, Turner and city staff will inspect the road once again to make sure it meets the requirements, then the city will officially accept the completed road. The contractor will also carry a maintenance bond on the road for 12 months after the project is accepted, making them liable for any work that needs to be done on the road, like a warranty.
