When G. Wayne Stevens and wife Wynell moved to Willow Park in 1965 they were the second family to build in the new Parker County Community off Highway 80. They were issued the first telephone in Willow Park. Wayne and Wynell met in Dallas and married in the Fort Worth backyard of their good friends, Howard and Elizabeth Mixon. Many years later the Mixon's moved to be their next-door neighbors on Chuckwagon Trail.

G. Wayne Stevens served Willow Park as mayor for over five years during the formation of the City. He served also as President of the Aledo Lions club and was a member of the Shrine Temple, and the North Management Club. Wayne worked as a supervisor at General Dynamics and was particularly proud of GD's Squaw Creek Golf Course - nearby in his back yard.

The Stevens were members of the Aledo United Methodist Church.  They raised two children in the Aledo school district. Wynell continues to run a women's apparel shop at her home.
